"Antibarbarians" and "Ciceronianus" stand among the most celebrated treatises by the "Prince of Humanists," Erasmus of Rotterdam. These works are dedicated to the polemics surrounding classical heritage, Christian humanism, and the stylistic nuances of the Latin language. This edition presents commented translations of these seminal works, supplemented by a brief early composition by Erasmus in the genre of "contempt for the world" (contemptus mundi), as well as Erasmus's Apology, Cornelius, and their accompanying correspondence. All of these texts are published in Russian for the first time.
This volume will be of significant interest to both specialists and a broad readership engaged with European history and culture.
