«Ты ощущаешь себя другим, чужим…»: иногородняя молодежь в большом городе в поисках устойчивости
The article raises the issue of social inclusion of non-resident student youth through different ways of engaging with the university and the city as specific environments with important resources. This article contributes to the field of post-migration research and provides insights into the processes that occur with young people after moving within the country. Social inclusion is examined here through the lens of P. Bourdieu's social capital theory and sustainability approaches. The authors identify the relationship between modes of social inclusion, social capital and sustainability of student youth in a big city. The empirical base of the study consisted of 63 biographical interviews with non-resident student youth studying at two universities in Kazan and St. Petersburg. The researchers reconstruct the barriers to social inclusion of young people. They are not limited exclusively to the domestic difficulties of settling in a new city. The authors highlight the ways in which students, with the help of university resources and opportunities, are included in the city, forming a relatively stable position and expanding their social capital. The ways are represented as the most “soft” and, on the contrary, requiring more autonomy and more complex.
