The Representation of the Federal Elections of 2011 and 2012 in Russia by the Major National Television Channels
The programs of Russian TV channels in the context of electoral campaigns have repeatedly been selected as a subject of social surveys. The proposed paper is based on the results of content analysis of informational programs of the three major channels Pervij, Rossija-1 and NTV – during the Duma campaign of 2011 and the presidential campaign of 2012. The research findings demonstrate the thematic and contextual features of the programs, tones and mentioned persons. It is shown that the representation of the electoral competition was mostly imitative. The governing party (“United Russia”) and the authorities’ candidate (Vladimir Putin) were presented mostly as officials at work, which gave them certain advantages. There were no principal differences in the position of various channels towards the political process. In both cases public political activity increased noticeably after voting: in November 2011 in the form of protest demonstrations, and later in March 2012 in the form of protest and supportive demonstrations.
The article deals with determining the zones where it would be reasonable to use robotic-surgical systems (complexes) in conducting abdominal operations. It is not only the economic interests of a clinic, but the safety and the health of a patient that are regarded as criteria for optimality, as well as convenience and fatigability level of medical personnel. The article offers the logics and methodology for such a survey, which would consist of three blocks. At the start, on the basis of the experience of operations performed by the authors, the system of verifiable current hypotheses is structured. The second block deals with the content analysis (CA) of the publications relating to the description of respective medical cases, which partially allows to confirm the previously suggested hypothesis. The final stage will involve a survey in the form of a questionnaire of leading surgeons. The results of two first stages of work are presented in this article.
This book is a collection of chapters about emerged during last 15 years international television channels and their impact on international global media configuration. During this periode some new global channels emerged in non-western world, such as in Russia, Middle East etc. This book examines geopolitical strategies of such channels, theirs content and define new spaces for the future research in field of internationalization of media.
The problems of the man are examined in the context of the state development, human inner world, and perception of historical events. The researcher has used their private sources such as diaries, memoirs and letters which reflect the levels of spiritual life and psychology of people living in individual historic ages.
In Chapter 7, Alexander Kynev analyzes the dynamics of electoral support for the leading opposition parties in Russia. The study maps regional support for the systemic opposition and United Russia in the December 2011 elections to the State Duma, and the regional elections of 2012 and 2013. In addition, the chapter provides a detailed account of new party and election laws which were enacted in the wake of the mass protests in December 2011 and it outlines the various methods employed by United Russia to maintain its control over regional assemblies and executives. Kynev concludes that many of the new party and electoral laws were adopted in a panic as short term fixes, without much thought about their long term consequences. Some of these reforms, such as changes to the laws governing the registration of parties, the increase in the percentage of deputies elected in single member districts, which were aimed at fragmenting and weakening the system opposition, have backfired, allowing opposition parties and candidates to win seats in regional assemblies and take control of city administrations. Moreover, the liberalization of party rules has led to the creation of scores of new parties, many of which have managed to escape the Kremlin’s control. The creation of these new parties has ended up splitting the votes of the systemic opposition and United Russia.
The article is concerned with results of content analysis of textbooks for high school in the area of social and human sciences. The author uses the typology of values introduced by S. Schwartz which consists of two value axes — “conservation — openness to change” and “selfassertion — caring about people and nature” — and describes values that underlie each subject area and then compares these values with results of mass surveys of the values of Russians.
There have been implemented engineering and development of multi-agent recommender system «EZSurf» that performs analysis of interests and provides recommendations for the social network «VKontakte» users based on the data from profile of particular user. During the work process different methods and technological solutions have been analyzed with examination of their advantages and disadvantages. Besides of that the comparative analysis of analogous products has been held where the most similar is Russian start-up service - Surfingbird. Based on this analysis the decision of recommender system implementation and integration has been accepted. The feature of this system is that it uses social network “VKontakte” profile for user’s data collection and API of third-party services (LastFM, TheMovieDB) for an extraction of information about similar objects. Such an approach contributes into optimization of recommender system, because it does not require creation of its own object classification system and objects database. The functionality of multi-agent system was separated between three agents. First agent (Collector) collects user data from “VKontakte” profile using VK API. Second agent (Analyzer) collects similar objects from databases of thitd-party services (LastFM, TheMovieDB) that will be the criteria for further search of recommendatory content. For search and selection of information an agent (Recommender) that works as web-crawler has been implemented. System «EZSurf» can be exploited by the users of social network “VKontakte” in everyday life for time economy on web-surfing process. At the same time they will get recommendations on content that are filtered depending on preferences of every particular user.
The results of cross-cultural research of implicit theories of innovativeness among students and teachers, representatives of three ethnocultural groups: Russians, the people of the North Caucasus (Chechens and Ingushs) and Tuvinians (N=804) are presented. Intergroup differences in implicit theories of innovativeness are revealed: the ‘individual’ theories of innovativeness prevail among Russians and among the students, the ‘social’ theories of innovativeness are more expressed among respondents from the North Caucasus, Tuva and among the teachers. Using the structural equations modeling the universal model of values impact on implicit theories of innovativeness and attitudes towards innovations is constructed. Values of the Openness to changes and individual theories of innovativeness promote the positive relation to innovations. Results of research have shown that implicit theories of innovativeness differ in different cultures, and values make different impact on the attitudes towards innovations and innovative experience in different cultures.
