HSE Scientists Train Neural Network to 'Hear' Faults in Electric Motors
Researchers at the AI and Digital Science Institute of the HSE Faculty of Computer Science have developed a new method—the Signature-Guided Data Augmentation (SGDA) framework—that achieves 99% accuracy in motor fault detection and 86% accuracy in fault classification. The application of this approach can reduce industrial equipment repair costs, minimise downtime, and improve production safety. The study results have been published in Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence.

Rural Housing Development Potential

P. 243–253.
Baidakov A., Olga S. Zvyagintseva, Babkina O., Kenina D., Zaporozhets D.

The purpose of the work is to study the potential of housing development in rural areas of Russia. The potential for the development of housing construction depends on the purchasing power of the rural population, which is formed by the corresponding level of demand for housing.
The assessment of demand in the housing market of rural areas takes into account many factors, including the level of income of the population, the price of housing, the level of housing improvement, the desire to improve housing conditions for young people, the proportion of dilapidated and dilapidated housing.
The methodology proposed by the authors for assessing and stimulating demand for housing construction in rural areas is easy to use and versatile, which is important in the conditions of diversity of domestic regions.
The results of testing the methodology showed the highest level of demand for housing in the Volga and Siberian Federal Districts, which is due to a larger population than in other regions and a low level of residential improvement in rural areas.
The methodology for assessing housing demand is recommended to be used by municipal authorities when making decisions in this area. Based on the data obtained, the administration of the rural territory makes a decision on the use of financial and non-financial measures to stimulate demand for housing construction. Also, the methodology can be supplemented with prognostic studies for a period determined by the accepted acceptable terms for improving housing conditions.
