The urgency of the problem of managing the socio-economic development of rural areas is due to a number of factors. Among them: the need to develop the agricultural sector of the economy, the regulation of the level of migration of the population, the management of rural employment, the creation of favorable conditions for life in rural areas, and so on. For the North Caucasus Federal District, this issue is especially relevant due to the fact that many regions of the North Caucasus are characterized by a low level of urbanization and an insufficient level of rural development. The article presents the results of a study of the state and trends in the development of social infrastructure in rural areas of the North Caucasus Federal District, as an important part of the formation of a favorable rural living environment. Conclusions are formulated and standards for the placement of social infrastructure facilities in rural areas are presented, compliance with which is necessary to improve the quality of life in rural areas.
