The article analyzes the results of the Great October Socialist Revolution of 1917 in culture. Question about radical culture was set by the revolution: whether the master of the victorious mass culture or be destroyed. The historical meaning of the revolution lay in the dialectical overcoming of the initiated reforms of Peter the Great social-cultural schism and the restoration of cultural integrity in the new historical community, when the masses became available the best samples of world culture, Russian classical and folk culture. A key step in finalizing the cultural revolution stands out so-called conservative turn of the 1930s. as a result of this process was the creation for the first time in recent history was the mass culture appropriate to the new social structure and based on high intellectual and moral standards and fundamentally different from the mass culture of the Western type associated with the phenomenon of the consumer society. Cultural revolution in Russia in the 20 century happened twice, but with different results: give the masses the culture and take it away from them. At the present stage of history won type of mass culture of Western capitalism. Centennial anniversary of the October revolution is a topical reason for the resumption of the discussion on the development of Russia in conditions of growing social and cultural imbalances.
