Sylvia Plath occupies a special and really distinguished place in British and American cultures, both popular and elite. Her works and life keep on influencing writers, poets, artists, playwrights and film directors and through them readers and viewers. Sometimes her name is just mentioned in modern art without any deep understanding and analysis thus transformed into a stereotype, mainly associated with depression and suicide. However, quite often we are privileged to face examples of deep and fruitful reception, when Plath’s image keeps its depth and diversity in cinema, painting or literature, conveying some additional complexity to the fictional characters is connection with which Plath is drawn into the work of art.
