Маяковский в романе Валентина Горянского «Парфандр и Глафира»
The task of the article is to understand the manifestations of “the anxiety of influence”, which determined Goryansky’s attitude towards Mayakovsky during the period of cooperation with the magazine New Satyricon, accompanied the poet throughout the years of emigration and was ultimately resolved in the novel Parfander and Glafira (1949). An allegorical plot embodies the contrast between a “little man” and a genius, alongside the drama of unrequited love for Russia. In it, a helpless eccentric is defeated by the handsome Gross, a character drawn from various aspects of Mayakovsky's writings and personality.
The author creatively sublimated his defeat by entering a dialogue with another great poet; for the aging poet Goryansky, contrasting Pushkin with Mayakovsky became the most important condition for the act of creativity.
