Пространственная асимметрия ИТ-рынка труда России: декомпозиция регионального зарплатного разрыва и география компетенций искусственного интеллекта
The rapid development of Russia’s information technology (IT) sector and the spread of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies raise the question of how the industry’s labour market is organised beyond the binary opposition between capitals and regions. The aim is to describe the spatial structure of Russia’s IT labour market, decompose the wage gap with the Central Federal District into explained and unexplained components, and map the geography of demand for AI competences. The empirical base is 184,996 hh.ru vacancies for 2025; 78,643 report wages in roubles. The analysis uses a semi-log wage regression and a two-sided decomposition of the wage gap into structural and regional components. As a novel contribution, a multidimensional labour-market profile of the IT sector across the eight federal districts is constructed, and the share of the gap not attributable to vacancy structure is quantified. The results reveal functional specialisation of districts, the predominance of the unexplained regional premium, and bipolar concentration of AI competences in capital cities and research-and-education cores (Tomsk, Kazan, Novosibirsk). Since the data reflect employer locations rather than worker residences, the spatial-integration function of remote work cannot be tested.
