This article examines the global experience in the development of urban rail electric transport systems for the period from 2014 to March 2025. This study is necessary to determine the general trend in the development of this category of transport in the world, as well as to identify the most successful representatives in order to further study them in detail. The position of the scientific community regarding the necessity and expediency of developing electric rail transport for urban and agglomeration transportation is considered. As a result of the study, it was determined that, in general, the global dynamics of the development of urban rail electric transport has positive indicators for 11 years. China's experience as the most successful country in terms of public policy in this area is particularly noteworthy: more than 60% of global development in this area is accounted for by this country. Russia is one of the 12 most successful countries due to the development of the Moscow metro. It is noted that of the 86 countries where urban rail electric transport systems operate, 70 have positive dynamics, and 3 have negative dynamics.
