Global experience shows that using of search query statistics allows you to track the spread of infectious diseases in almost real time. At the same time, if in foreign countries they rely on statistics of requests made in the Google browser, then in the Russian space preference may be given to Yandex-based tools. Using online query statistics, domestic researchers analyzed interest in the topic of COVID-19 and predicted migration intentions, at the same time, the topic of influenza did not receive due attention, which is the relevance of this work. The tools from the two IT leaders have their own similarities and differences. In this paper, we will show how Yandex Wordstat allows us to expand our understanding of regional and temporal awareness of influenza in Russia and in a specific region – the Samara region. The paper hypothesizes on the influence of geographical location on the frequency of flu requests in Russian regions and verifies it using cartographic methods.
