The present Collective monograph includes three sections: philology, methodology of teaching foreign languages and literary criticism. Issues presented in the monograph are relevant and will be of interest not only to a narrow circle of lexicologists, lexicographers, translation theorists, methodologists and specialist in literature but all philologists, Latin languages, Germanic and specialists in Russian philology.
The article investigates the methods of teaching Spanish as a foreign language within interactive approach. The author analyzes the pros and contras of different methods and interactive platforms that offer Spanish publishers and analyzes websites with additional materials for independent work of students in the Spanish language.
The meaning of the Greek hapax legomenon "λιμβίς" has been specified with the help of its Church Slavonic translation "grivьna" (necklace).
The article presents in chronological order the replenishment of Russian lexicography with the dictionaries of jargon at the end of the 20th century – the beginning of the 21th century. The author analyses the most famous dictionaries of general jargon for the purpose of finding words and word combinations belonging to the youth sociolect. As exemplified by concrete dictionary entries, the article shows the advantages of each lexicographic source described and specifies their role in the analysis of the youth jargon.
This paper sets out to review current approaches to world Englishes from a range of perspectives, from English studies to sociolinguistics, applied linguistics, lexicography, ‘popularizers’ and critical linguistics. It then proceeds to consider current debates on English worldwide and world Englishes, noting the recent criticisms of the world Englishes approach from a rhetoric of a critical linguistics ironically at odds with the realities of many educational settings.
Folding of the American historical experience proceeded dramaticly, but brought important lessons for the development of all mankind. XXXIV International Conference of the Russian Society for the Study of American Culture, entitled "Display and interpretation of history in the culture of the United States", helped to analyze the dynamics of the processes associated with the perception of the history of North American cultural figures.

Students' internet usage attracts the attention of many researchers in different countries. Differences in internet penetration in diverse countries lead us to ask about the interaction of medium and culture in this process. In this paper we present an analysis based on a sample of 825 students from 18 Russian universities and discuss findings on particularities of students' ICT usage. On the background of the findings of the study, based on data collected in 2008-2009 year during a project "A сross-cultural study of the new learning culture formation in Germany and Russia", we discuss the problem of plagiarism in Russia, the availability of ICT features in Russian universities and an evaluation of the attractiveness of different categories of ICT usage and gender specifics in the use of ICT.
