Навершия с изображением женского божества из Александропольского кургана: о возможности идентификации / персонификации персонажа
Several pommels with a highly stylized image of a winged female deity come from the Aleksandropol Barrow. The design of their lower parts is extremely stylized, which causes various identification options. To assess the prospects of correlating the images on the lower parts of the pommel with a certain circle of likely characters, it is necessary to determine which iconographic schemes could be used as possible prototypes. In the images under consideration, due to the extreme reduction of important iconometric elements, it is difficult to accurately determine the original iconographic scheme. When working with analogies, attention is drawn not only to a possible iconographic prototype (Rankenfrau – “sprouting maiden”), but to the inherent diversity of emerging associations and the lack of initial correlation with certain deities. The possibilities of personification of female deities on the tops of the Aleksandropol Barrow are significantly limited, on the one hand, by the artistic features of the iconography used, on the other hand,by the specifics of the translation of the iconographic schemes used that are not tied to specific personalities.
