Ле Корбюзье: свет, бетон и аскеза / К. А. Малич. — СПб.: Masters, 2025.
Le Corbusier: Light, Concrete, and Asceticism / K. A. Malich. — St. Petersburg: Masters, 2025. The three masters featured in this series shaped the history of 20th-century architecture. Each possessed a distinct creative logic, and each influenced our understanding of what modernism is. The architect Charles-Édouard Jeanneret-Gris—who adopted the pseudonym Le Corbusier in 1920—appears as an unequivocal figure in the history of modernism. He is a constant variable of the International Style: he formulated the "Five Points of a New Architecture," proclaimed that "a house is a machine for living in," and reduced the residential environment to the form of "little boxes."
His round, horn-rimmed glasses, formal suit, and bow tie are also part of a "notarial" style—one that seems to preclude any movement, leaving room only for strict, mandatory formulas. He was a mystic and a functionalist, a leader and a recluse, an engineer and an artist.
