The information resources of the modern society tend to be the key factor for its further scientifi c and social development. In this process people deal with diversity and novelty of information sources. The number of news websites produced by non-journalists is rapidly growing. As a result, the audience tends to consume information produced by the well-known mainstream media, but also by the resources that become an alternative to the accepted international of national standards. This article is an attempt to track down the approaches that may become a starting point for further studies of alternative media, changes in the media landscape and modifi cation of traditional journalism principles.
