The civil identity is specified as a subject-object interaction between an individual and a state. The article examines trends in television viewing, referring to the young people of 18-20 years old on the basis of continuous TV audience measurements conducted by MediaScope in 2008-2017, as well as on the results of the survey among the students of the Institute of Cinema and Television (GITR) in 2017. The decline in the average daily time spent by young people in front of the TV screens is recorded, and there is a tendency for television viewing to go mobile. At the same time, the audience at the age of 21 and older, on the contrary, spends more and more time in front of the TV screens. In addition, the study identified TV channels and specific TV programs that won the largest audience in Russia in 2017 in two age groups - 18-20 years and ages 21 and older.

This paper deals with the perception of English language teaching profession at a secondary school level by university students who specialize in languages. Survey results demonstrate that though respondents find English teaching content appealing, the perceptions of unattractive low pay and high workload stop them from choosing a teaching career. Also, students are uninformed about labor conditions for school teachers. Internal motivation such as personal qualities and preferences is the primary incentive to choose English language teaching profession.
