Addressing Diversity: Inclusive Histories of Egyptology

This volume is dedicated to the 'supporting actors' in the history of Egyptology, who are often outside the spotlight. It by no means intends to trivialise the achievements of the 'main characters', nor do the editors intend to instrumentalise the history of science for socio-political purposes. Rather, the performance of various groups of actors, including the lesser known, and their cooperation should be acknowledged. Making the history of an academic discipline more inclusive takes time, and the case studies presented in this volume do not purport to be exhaustive. Therefore, the aim is to stimulate an ongoing research discourse, with attention being directed to the different contributions to Egyptological research.
