The issue contains articles presented as reports at the regular XXXIV Readings of the memory of the corresponding member of Academy of Sciences of the USSR V.T. Pashuto. This year dedicated to interethnic contacts in a socio-cultural context. This problem is revealed on the material of European and Asian societies of Antiquity and the Middle Ages, including Eastern Europe and Old Rus'.
