The twelfth volume of the “Caucasian Anthology” yearbook of 2020 contains articles on regional history and ethnology, studies of customary law in the Caucasus. The volume presents new materials from the Russian and Georgian archives on the history of the missionary activity of the Russian Orthodox Church in the Caucasus in the second half of the 19th century. It also includes conceptual articles by M. Kemper and V.O. Bobrovnikov on the so-called Caucasian adat, revised in them and defined not as independent customary law, bu as legal custom supplementing fiqh, which it also often contradicted. The publication of the manuscript by F.I. Kapelgorodsky “Karanogay, the country of nomads and patriarchal way of life” goes on. Historiography is represented by a number of resuming essays on the contribution to the world Caucasian studies of the 20th century of its largest representatives, including A.E. Kuprava, A.E. Ter-Sarkisyants, A.R. Shikhsaidov, N.S. Kinyapina, V.P. Nevskaya. The publication is intended for researchers of the history and ethnology of the Caucasus.
