Русская религиозная мысль в современных исследованиях и образовании: актуальные дискуссии
The article is devoted to current discussions in the field of Russian religious philosophy research and teaching practices in Russian state and confessional universities. It summarizes the discussion of theoretical and practical aspects of studying Russia’s philosophical heritage and its tradition of religious thought, which were discussed at the Round table “Russian Religious Thought in Modern Research and Education: Philosophy, Theology, Philosophy of Religion”, which was held at the National Research University Higher School of Economics in September 2025. The Round table brought together leading researchers of Russian thought, theologians, Orthodox theologians, philosophers and sociologists of religion, religious scholars, heads of philosophical and theological fields at classical universities and Orthodox institutes. The scientists discussed a wide range of issues related to the rethinking of Russian thought in the intellectual context of modern Russian culture, as well as the actualization of philosophical heritage in the educational, scientific and public spaces. The speakers paid special attention to the problem of reception and reinterpretation of concepts of Russian religious thought in the context of the transformation of the epistemological paradigm of humanitarian knowledge. The question was raised about the disciplinary status of Russian religious philosophy, its relationship with theology, philosophy of religion, philosophical and political theology. The participants emphasized the importance of the theoretical and archival base of historical and philosophical research in this field. The practice of teaching the history of Russian religious thought at philosophical, theological faculties and Russia’s theological academies was discussed during the debate, as well as the new textbook “Russian Religious Philosophy” according to the standard “theology” for higher educational institutions of the Russian Orthodox Church. This article is an analysis of both the results achieved in the study of Russian religious thought and the identified problems formulated by the participants of the Round table.
