Ценностные ориентиры как фактор рискового поведения молодежи
In Russia the level of youth injuries in road accidents is much higher than in European countries. Searching for the reasons of such differences the authors put forward a hypothesis that some values influence risk traffic behavior of the youth. Relations between values orientations, on the one hand, and matrimonial, sexual and reproductive behavior, on the other hand, are investigated by many sociologists and demographers. However, there are few Russian and foreign researches related to the values and risk traffic behavior. Therefore, the aim of the study is to reveal the connection between youth values and risk behavior.
To achieve the aim the authors employed the statistics data of the Federal state statistics service and World health organization (WHO), and the data collected by the international survey – European social survey (6th wave, 2012).
The European social survey (ESS) 2012 standard questions about agrees or disagrees with the statements were used as basic values of the youth. Based on responses of people aged 15-29 the indexes of the values “security” and “benevolence” were calculated. Also in the analysis the information about people attitude towards breaking the traffic laws and their estimation of the possibility to be caught were added from the ESS 2010. As an indicator of the road traffic injuries the standardized mortality rate due to the road injuries calculated by the direct method was applied.
