The book is dedicated to the political logic of the ancient Greek philosopher Plato,and Platonism’s reception among the post-Nietzschean philosophers of the 20th century(Martin Heidegger, Hannah Arendt, Leo Strauss, Michel Foucault, Gilles Deleuze,and Jacques Derrida). The author proposes a series of new methods of historical andphilosophic analysis, and a typology of political thought in continental and analyticaltraditions. He reviews the newest trends in studying ancient political life, offers thoroughand detailed commentary on Plato’s Republic, and analyses the key anti-Platonictexts of post-Nietzschean philosophers that had a great impact on the development ofa continental philosophy in the 20th century. The author formulates the main politicalproblem — the mutual untranslatability of the languages of freedom and justice —which has remained in force throughout the entire history of European thought.
