Стратегическое партнерство Республики Корея и АСЕАН как фактор реализации инициативы ВРЭП

This article analyzes the Strategic Partnership between the Republic of Korea (ROK) and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) as a factor in implementing the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). The role of the ASEAN-Korea Free Trade Agreement as a driver of promising economic practices is revealed, its adaptation to cooperation in the RCEP format is considered from the perspective of ASEAN’s integration plans, the contribution of the ASEAN-ROK Strategic Partnership to the RCEP implementation is specified. In the author’s view, the ASEAN-Korea Strategic and then the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership has been a catalyst for cooperation. The main reason is that the ASEAN-Korea Strategic Partnership supported ASEAN’s central role in the regional multilateral cooperation and the establishment of the ASEAN Community. The relevance of the study stems from the RCEP’s crucial role in revitalizing regional economic ties after the COVID-19 pandemic and the strategic significance of cooperation between the ROK and ASEAN for regional development. The article assesses the synergy between the bilateral cooperation ASEAN and the ROK and the multilateral initiative RCEP for regional cooperation, which remains insufficiently explored in the Russian and foreign scholarly literature. This factor is behind the theoretical and practical significance of the research.
