The main features of educational system for Arctic indigenous peoples: inputs and outputs
Study’s aim is to find out factors, which are more important to provide better learning outcomes for Arctic residents. We used a variety of indicators (exam marks, number of students, teachers, amount of government funding and school location) for regression analysis. The education accessibility index was calculated to establish availability level of education for Indigenous. To calculate average distance of schools, we collected data about localization of all schools in the Russian Arctic and settlements of Indigenous Minority Peoples. To visualize the collected data and assess the spatial relationships between schools and indigenous settlements in the Russian Arctic, a map was created showing all the collected data. As a result, we found that some indigenous peoples' settlements are located far from educational institutions. Existing solutions to this problem (boarding schools and nomadic schools) are only partially effective. The uneven spatial distribution of facilities leads to a decline in student academic performance.
