‘The Peak of Stupidity and ‘The Valley of Despair: HSE Economists Propose an Explanation for the Dunning–Kruger Effect
The Dunning–Kruger effect, which describes a sharp surge in self-confidence among beginners followed by an equally rapid decline as they gain experience, can be explained by the nature of the learning process and the acquisition of new knowledge. This conclusion was reached by Andrey Vorchik of the HSE Faculty of Economic Sciences together with independent researcher Murat Mamyshev. They developed a mathematical model of learning and demonstrated how subjective confidence is formed and changes as knowledge accumulates, as well as how teachers can reduce the ‘valley of despair’ experienced by learners.

The article considers the application of cognitive-behavioral coaching in work with project teams. The objective of the study is to develop and test a model of coaching project teams and assess their effectiveness. The article defines team coaching and differentiates between group and team coaching. The processes of group dynamics are described. The existing models of cognitive-behavioral coaching of teams and the possibilities of their application are analyzed. The author's model for assessing the effectiveness of cognitive-behavioral coaching of teams is presented. The results of testing the model in the practice of conducting cognitive-behavioral coaching of teams and the results of assessing the effectiveness of coaching in the evidence-based methodology are described.
