The article discusses the main stages of the formation and improvement of psychological practice in the internal affairs bodies. The goals and objectives of psychophysiological and psychonarkological laboratories created since the 1970s are described. The article highlights a significant period in the development of the psychological service associated with the opening in 1980 of the Central Research Psychophysiological Laboratory of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR. The main directions of scientific and practical research are highlighted, their importance is considered both in accompanying the professional activities of employees and in providing emergency psychological assistance to citizens.
