Digital twin technology is widely used in various sectors of the economy, modeling subjects and objects based on data about them and the environment surrounding them. In the broadest sense, the goal of a digital twin is to solve a problem including the problem of studying of the modeled subject or object and ensuring its healthiest, most efficient or productive functioning. In this regard, the use of digital twins is equally relevant for multiple different sectors of the economy and requires special legal attention due to the complex structure of the digital twin itself as an object of law. Studying the empirical experience of using digital twins particularly through the example of the Brazilian company Petrobras will help create an effective and human-oriented legal regime for digital twins in the Russian Federation.
