“Russian User Studies”: первая конференция для исследователей пользователей

At the end of 2018, November 30 - December 1, the research team WrongTech held a scientific and practical conference “Russian User Studies” at the Sociological Institute of the Federal Research and Design Institute for Science and Technology of the Russian Academy of Sciences in order to bring together developers, practitioners, academic and industrial researchers on one site. 30 conference participants from St. Petersburg,
Moscow, Minsk (Belarus) and Maastricht (Netherlands) for two days discussed such aspects of social research of users, as problems of conceptualization of users and non-users, research methods of (non) users, social and cultural features of technology use, gender aspects of (non) users, postcolonial and indigenous features of technology use,
Academy and Business Collaborations at User Studies. The key topic for discussion in almost all sections was the understanding of the boundaries of the concept users and its possible alternatives. In this regard, the iconic
events of the conference were the plenary report of the famous Dutch non-user researchers Sally Wyatt and the final discussion, “What are the interactions between users and technologies.”
