Общественные объединения Нижнего Тагила в начале XX века
This article is devoted to economic, cultural and educational, charitable, ethno-confessional non-political public associations of Nizhny Tagil in the early 20th century. The source base of the study includes official documentation of public organizations of Nizhny Tagil, bodies of zemstvo self-government, statistical materials, articles of the periodical press. The use of system analysis methods in the work, which involves the analysis and synthesis procedures, induction and deduction in relation to information from historical sources, as well as classification and typology, made it possible to determine the main vectors of the activities of public organizations and the leading types of public associations. The study discloses the role of the Perm provincial and Verkhotursk district zemstvos in the organization and activities of local public associations. It was revealed that the main areas of their activity in the period under review were improving the level of material well-being, charity, education and leisure. It was found that their main activity in the period under review were charity and education. The number of members of public associations, represented by entrepreneurs, officials, teachers, doctors, clergymen, were presented in the study. At the beginning of the 20th century in Nizhny Tagil industrial settlement some general characteristic trends of the social life of the Ural city could be observed. Its social life involved general public, whose members often took public initiatives aimed at solving social issues. The analysis of the goals, numerical composition of public associations, the principles of their work, sources of funding and the nature of interaction with the authorities indicates that during the period under study, the ideas of citizenship and humanism are most widely spread not only in the urban environment, but also in large industrial settlements of the Urals.
