The main component of the subject area of criminalistics is the investigation of crimes. But the effectiveness of fighting crime without countering the commission of crimes will be significantly lower. Consideration of prevention from the point of view of the patterns covered by the concept of the science of criminalistics allows us to assert the expediency of countering crime by criminalistic methods and means. The change in the structure of crime over the previous decade, due to the development of digital technologies, requires the development of new methods, tools and techniques for investigating crimes. The content, methods and forms of criminalistics prevention are different from criminological and are not related to the establishment by the investigator of the circumstances that contributed to the commission of the crime, but are determined by the method of committing the crime.
