Медиаконцепт «вакцинация» в дискурсе немецких СМИ во время пандемии COVID-19
The relevance of the research is justified by the influence of the media on the consciousness and behavior of people during the crisis, allowing to form discursive phenomena that have specific characteristics. In addition, it seems particularly relevant to use linguistic tools to describe media and political phenomena, as well as to apply media and political theories to describe cognitive phenomena. This paper examines the ideological intertextual media concept of “vaccination” as a biopolitical tool, objectified in the discourse of non-state German media. The research material constituted the texts of “Süddeutsche Zeitung”, “Die Zeit”, “Die Tageszeitung” published between January 2020-March 2022 with a total volume of 23.38 million words. The methodological basis of the study was M. Foucault’s (2010) understanding of “biopolitics”, the propaganda model of E. Herman, N. Chomsky (2002), the provisions of culturomics (Bonch-Osmolovskaya, 2015) and the theory of cognitive-discursive world modeling (Kushneruk, 2018). To identify and analyze collocations, the tools of the Digital Dictionary of the German Language (DWDS), Sketch Engine, AntConc, and the NLTK library (Python) were used. At the first stage of the study, a lexicographic analysis of the definitions and collocates of the lexemes Impfung, Impfstoff and impfen was carried out using DWDS material. Next, collocations extracted from a random corpus of institutional discourse in Sketch Engine were analyzed. Finally, a cognitive-discourse analysis was carried out and the main cognitive features of the media concept “vaccination” were identified based on texts of German media. The media concept of “vaccination” as a biopolitical tool is a safe and effective means of protection against the virus. This conclusion is consistent with the cognitive features identified during the analysis of institutional discourse, as well as the everyday worldview. Thus, in the minds of native speakers, through the media, a positive attitude towards the state biopolitical program is formed, which also allows us to conclude that there is an ideological component in the constructed concept, namely, media support for the state’s biopolitics.
