This article explores the phenomenon of social capital in the context of contemporary media communications and its relationship with the phenomenon of cancellation ethics. The authors examine the mechanisms by which social capital functions in the digital space and how it is transformed by cancellation practices. The research methodology draws
on theoretical approaches to understanding the nature of social capital by P. Bourdieu, J. Baudrillard, N. Luhmann, and M. Castells. The article analyzes symbolic production in the media space, examines the mechanisms of social control, and examines the ethical aspects of contemporary digital communications. Particular attention is paid to the role of media in shaping public opinion and implementing cancellation practices. The authors conclude that social capital is a key resource in contemporary social relations, and the cancellation ethics represents a new tool for social regulation. Cancellation is found to be an indicator of social change and the revision of social norms. The findings demonstrate the dual nature of the cancellation ethics: on the one hand, it is a mechanism for maintaining social justice, and on the other, a tool for the redistribution of social capital in the media space. The study highlights the impor tance of critically understanding these practices for the development of modern society.
