Применение библиометрического сетевого анализа для картирования исследовательского поля по теме «капитал здоровья»
For a researcher a common practice is to work extensively on literature review to understand the research field to design the conceptual framework for the study. This task may not be trivial due to growing number of studies and interdisciplinarity/multidisciplinary of the research field. The case of health capital research is a challenge both terminologically and conceptually. This paper aims at mapping and examining the structure of the research field on the topic of health capital within so-called algorithmic paradigm of systematic literature review. The main objective of the study is to develop and implement an algorithm for using bibliometric network analysis for thematic mapping of the research field with the help of computer-assisted tools.
The analysis was implemented in several steps with software tools (VOSviewer, Bibliometrix/Biblioshiny) for the datasets retrieved from the Web of Science database. Bibliometric co-occurrence and co-authorship networks were built in VOSviewer for three datasets of 57853, 3000 and 395 publications. Exploratory data analysis using R with the Bibliometrix library and the Biblioshiny web-module was implemented to build thematic maps and to track evolution of the research field.
The paper identifies the most important co-occurring terms/concepts and their relationship with health. In addition to social and human capitals, different other types of capital are highlighted which also contribute to the structure of the health capital research field (psychological capital, intellectual capital, cultural capital, etc.). Culturally determined health capital represents a specific form of cultural capital that can be used for effective interaction of individuals and organizations in the healthcare domain.
Study of health in relation to social or human capital manifests these approaches to be complementary, yet very specific ones. Social capital assumes a broader context and an indirect association with health (sociological paradigm), while human capital can be considered in a narrower context and directly related to health (economic paradigm). The health capital theory itself is considered within the framework of the economic paradigm.
Also, research topics were mapped by author keywords and keywords plus, which made it possible to identify well-developed “motor” and “niche” specialized topics of health capital research. The most “influential” subject categories for publications in Web of Science of health capital research correspond to a narrow economic paradigm (human capital theory, health capital theory).
In general, the implementation of the algorithmic approach increments new knowledge at every step of the study and clearly structures the research field of health capital - topics/themes, research evolution, most popular approaches and prominent authors. Such an algorithm with computer-assisted software tools helps to enhance understanding of the field for the ultimate goal of creating a high-quality systematic literature review, developing a conceptual research model and operationalizing basic terminology.
