The article examines various approaches to definitions of control and supervision and the distinctions between them. The author explores different purposes of the state control and brings into comparison external and internal control. The legal aspects of the correlation of terms «control» and «supervision» are being analyzed in the article. The author comes to the conclusion that the differentiation between the terms «control» and «supervision» has no practical value so the term «supervision» should be regarded as the traditional denomination of certain types of control.
