Reformation of the railway industries in foreign countries has affected national tariff regulation systems applied in various segments of railway transport. Based on the analysis of the main results of the reform of the railway industry in Germany, China and France, a review of changes in the principles and areas of tariff regulation is conducted. The empirical base consists of annual reports of the national companies, reports on competition in the railway transportation market. The main results of the study are that the application of tariff regulation in various segments of railway transportation is determined by the objectives and model of the railway industry as a whole, and not by the level of competition in the market.
