One of the main problems of modern society is the excessive accumulation of harmful garbage in landfills. In this paper, the authors investigate the attitude of Perm population to environmental problems in general, the excess of plastic waste and their impact on human health. The authors also identify factors that affect the frequency of purchase of plastic bags by Residents of Perm, in order to identify effective tools to reduce the volume of plastic bags purchased. The obtained conclusions about the willingness of the citizens to show pro-ecological consumption are compared with the findings of an earlier study about their willingness to sort waste. The analysis carried out in the work showed that different types of people manifest their pro-ecological behavior in different ways, which emphasizes the importance of a comprehensive approach to solving the problem of household waste management.
