It is proved that the issue of the formation of the common educational space within the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in the context of the new geopolitical reality is becoming increasingly relevant and is inextricably linked with the equally urgent issue of the export of Russian education. The method of comparative analysis and synthesis, which is the basis of the research conducted in this article, allowed us to identify common and special features in the education systems of the CIS countries, to formulate the conclusion about further steps towards the formation of the common educational space within the CIS.
