Жёсткие десигнаторы в теории абстрактных объектов Э. Залты
Гл. 16. С. 182-197.
The article describes some of the fundamental features of Edward Zalta’s Theory of abstract objects in connection with the problem of possible worlds, as well as the use of names as rigid designators. The main feature of Zalta’s Theory is the separation of the two types of predication of properties: one for concrete objects and the other for abstract ones. This approach allowed us to avoid certain paradoxes. In the theory of abstract objects possible worlds considered as abstract objects that are associated with propositional properties. Such an approach is not without appeal, but has some syntactical defects, leading to circularity in the definition of modalities and even the definition of identity relation.

The paper deals with the problem of identity in modal perspective. Two logical approaches – non-fregean logic (developed by R. Suszko) and rigid designation theory (developed by S. Kripke and others) – are compared. Despite of all their differences, these two theories treat the problem of identity in similar ways. So we can suppose that ...

The paper aims to analyze some aspects of the interaction between ethics and metaphysics
as separate parts of philosophical knowledge. A good example of this kind of interaction
can be found in case of moral criticism of D. Lewis’s modal realism. The study
has two aims. On the one hand, the author aims to show how effective and ...

Edward Zalta's axiomatic metaphysics or Theory of abstract objects is a philosophical theory with powerful logical unit which enables us to analyze a lot of ontological categories, such as non-existent objects, properties and relationships, possible worlds, states of affairs and many others that are in focus of modern analytic philosophy. Rich expressive power of the ...

In the article position of S. Kripke, which is presented in his lectures "Identity and necessity", is considered. The thesis is proved that necessity of identity for names with strict reference will be carried out on the whole universum of such names, as non-descriptive names do not have their own sense. It excludes for them reference ...

David Chalmers and John Perry both construe phenomenal concepts as irreducible to descriptive concepts of physical properties or properties, which logically supervene on them. But they draw different conclusions from this point. D. Chalmers in “The Conscious Mind” argues that the epistemic gap between phenomenal and physical properties shows that the former cannot be ontologically ...

This article provides an analysis of philosophical background of two-dimensionalism in general and some its particular variants. The paper demonstrates that two-dimensionalism should be treated not as artificial addition to conventional possible worlds semantics but as its natural generalization. It is also shown how ontological and epistemological problems (the correlation between primary and secondary intensions, ...

E. Zalta and P. Oppenheimer have created non-modal reading of the Anselm’s argument about the existence of God, The Ontological Argument. The authors have deduced the existence of God from his being. For this purpose, the term "that than which none greater can be conceived" used as a definite description. Through the predicate logic with ...
