Что говорит о российской бедности депривационный подход?
Among the existing dimensions of poverty, the relative deprivation approach is
more appropriate for accurate description of life realities. However, in order to do so, the deprivations used in this methodology should be relevant to the socio-economic
situation of a particular society. The article provides a systematization of deprivations
used in poverty studies in post-Soviet Russia. The author's index of deprivation is
proposed. It is based on the "classic" deprivations for Russian society, but also
includes deprivation in digital access, which was previously taken into account in
stratification studies but not included in deprivation index. The scale of relative
deprivation poverty is demonstrated in comparison with absolute and subjective
poverty. To identify the qualitative specificity of Russian poverty, deprivations are
considered in the groups of absolutely, subjectively and relatively poor. It is shown
that absolute poverty is characterized by deprivation in housing conditions, but has
relatively better situation in relation to other deprivations, while subjective poverty is
characterized by deprivation in consumption with relatively better situation in the
housing aspect. The obtained results emphasize the continuing divergence of
different dimensions of poverty in Russian society, which indicates its
multidimensional nature.
