“Liberalism of Post-Liberal Age”. The article’s concept implies that the state of crisis affects not liberal ideology per se, but liberal democracy as a system of statehood based on broad liberal consensus of diverse political forces. The article analyses prerequisites of the crisis, discusses the challenges to liberal democracy posed by illiberal and populist forces. The author argues that despite a serious erosion of liberal democracy, it remains consolidated, both because the liberal institutions and practices are well rooted, and because opponents of liberal democracy lack any consistent alternative political project, and therefore the impact of its advance remains limited. In the long run, the outcome of the crisis will be determined by the ability of Western countries to resolve the socio-economic problems underlying the revelations of crisis in politics.
