A positive review of Adolf Trendelenburg’s book The Elements of Aristotle's Logic translated into Russian by B. Fokht and A. Vashestov proposes four reasons why it is worth reading today. In contrast to what its title suggests, none of them is connected to learning logic. We would recommend it rather to experienced readers, than to those willing to start their studies in ancient philosophy. The book is a significant contribution to the study of the history of philosophy. Firstly, it will help those who wish to improve their ancient Greek language skills used as a tool for studying philosophy, and secondly, who search for a book for their ‘slow reading’ exercises in ancient philosophy. The book includes a thorough historical Foreword by M. Dyomin, which describes the development of philosophy as a research and school learning subject in the XIX c. in Germany and in the USSR in mid- XX c. This makes it a good reading for those interested in history of philosophy of XIX - XX cc., and especially of the neo-Kantian philosophy to which Trendelenburg and Fokht belonged. Fourthly, it contributes to the philosophy of education and serves a perfect example of didactics addressed both to students and teachers. In the review, I comment on some aspects of the edition and propose a hypothesis that it was the late medieval logicians moderni whom Trendelenburg called the ‘newest logicians’ in his comments.
