Россия и Индия в Индо-Тихоокеанском регионе и фактор США
The West is not interested in Russia’s full-scale and partner integration into its structures. The comprehensive development of relations with Greater East Asia (South-East and North-East Asia, South and Central Asia) will give Russia the opportunity to strengthen its position as a world center, to increase the flexibility of foreign policy and foreign economic line, to avoid the final slide on the raw material development path, to obtain significant commercial benefits. At the same time, the Russian elite, until recently, was mostly Eurocentric. However, sharp changes in Russian public opinion are forcing the elite to change their approaches. As Russia’s relations with the US and Europe deteriorated, it became obvious that in its confrontation with the West, Moscow could rely only on the largest non-Western countries, mainly Asian. But Moscow takes, in fact, few real steps to improve its position in the Asia-Pacific region. One can hardly observe joint activities even with one of the most important of Russia’s partners in the world, India, who is an objective and natural Russia’s ally. Their joint activities in the Indo-Pacific region have certain limitations, primarily due to different approaches to relations with China. US-Indian cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region also makes it difficult for Russia and India to work here together.
