Human Physiology. 2016. Vol. 42. No. 3. P. 339–342.

The correlations between the serum concentration of 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D) and the
blood levels of total cholesterol (TC), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, triglycerides (TG), and apolipoprotein
E were analyzed in young non-overweight men (n = 40) and women (n = 61) aged 14–23 years having no acute or
active chronic diseases. The measured variables were standardized within sex and four local groups. Spearman rank
correlation was observed between the concentration of 25(OH)D and TC in women (Rsp = 0.306, p = 0.017), and
between the concentrations of 25(OH)D and TG in men (Rsp = –0.372, p = 0.018).

Malaria control in Malawi relies primarily on long-lasting insecticide-treated nets (LLITNs) and indoor residual spraying (IRS), but transmission remains heterogeneous across districts. Previous research indicates that community-based environmental management strategies, such as routine drainage maintenance, vegetation removal, and effective household waste disposal, may reduce environmental conditions conducive to malaria vector proliferation. This study investigated the ...

Antiviral activity is commonly summarized using endpoint measures such as EC50 or EC90, yet these quantities emerge from a dynamic biological system and depend on viral replication kinetics, host-cell properties, experimental design, and the assay used to quantify infection. Infectious-virus titers, viral RNA, infected-cell fractions, viability measurements, and immune readouts capture different components of the ...

The paper proposes a theoretical framework for analyzing the scientific elite, conceptualizing knowledge production as a dynamic structure shaped by internal contradictions. The scientific elite is understood not as a collection of outstanding researchers, but as a structural effect of knowledge production — a position within the scientific space that concentrates the maximum volume of ...
