The article is devoted to peculiarities of the views of young people about family, marriage, and family life. The family remains an important priority in the system of life values of young people, however, desired family model in the eyes of young people is very diverse. Research conducted by the authors confirmed that the main motive for creation of family and marriage in the modern world is psychological. The conclusions of the article based on the results conducted by the authors in 2014 sociological research "the Change in the desired family image in the eyes of different generations in post-Soviet space (on example of Russia and Belarus)", conducted with the support of RHSF (grant No 14-23-01551) and the sociological study of families in a number of Russian universities.
