Межрегиональные миграционные потоки в России: сетевой подход
Interregional migration in Russia surpasses both intraregional and international migration in volume, playing a pivotal role in redistributing human capital across the country. To capture migration patterns between regions comprehensively, it is crucial to analyze all migration flows rather than just final migration indicators. This study integrates two research fields: network science, which examines various network structures, and the analysis of migration intensity coefficients, which helps account for differences in the sizes of regions of origin and destination. The article aims to use network science tools to study interregional migration flows in Russia from 2015 to 2023. It employs a methodology that combines network science techniques with migration intensity indicators. The study identifies five migration clusters with stable compositions throughout the review period, with transitions occurring only between Kaliningrad and Volgograd regions. Major migration hubs within each cluster and key migration flows are also identified. By calculating migration intensity coefficients and excluding flows between neighboring regions, the study identifies unusually large migration flows between remote northern and Arctic regions and labor resource donor regions. Conversely, unusually low migration flows between neighboring regions highlight limitations in the current transport infrastructure. Visualizations of Russia’s interregional migration network and migration intensity connections enhance the understanding of the country’s spatial mobility patterns.
