Leadership in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) is traditionally associated with the United States and Western technologies. However, Asian actors have recently become increasingly prominent in this area. The achievements of Asian countries, as a rule, remain under-researched. Arguably, a detailed analysis of the policies of the states of this part of the world can help identify their competitive advantages in the field of AI. In this study, the most influential actors in East and South Asia were selected as cases: China (including Taiwan), India, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Vietnam.
