Как изменилось влияние железнодорожного транспорта на развитие регионов России в период санкций

The paper assesses the contribution of rail transport to the economic development of Russian regions and analyzes how sanctions pressure has altered the nature of this relationship. Using regression analysis, a statistically significant positive relationship was identified between the growth of rail shipments and the growth of GRP in the baseline specifications. At the same time, the interaction coefficient with the sanctions period (defined in the study as from 2014 to 2022) introduced into the model has a negative sign and is statistically significant, indicating a weakening of the stimulating role of rail transport following the imposition of sanctions. The results of this study can be used to justify transport policy measures aimed at enhancing the sustainability of regional development under external constraints, including the diversification of logistics routes and the improvement of transport efficiency.
