Концепция развития современного географического краеведения в образовании

The working concept of the development of modern local geography in education is presented. The purpose of the concept is to set a vision of the prospects for the development of local geography in education considering modern conditions, and based on the analysis of history and best practices in the field. The concept provides an overview of foreign and domestic approaches in different countries to school local studies, highlights milestones in the development of local history in general and local geography in particular. The possibilities of introducing a local history agenda into geography lessons and other school subjects are illustrated. As well as the possibilities of students’ research and project activity in the field of local geography are demonstrated. The article also reveals the role of local studies in general and local geography in particular in the additional education of children and adolescents. It shows how federal initiatives in the field of education (the development of school museums, scientific volunteering, academic and popular science tourism, etc.) are associated with the tasks of developing the study of local geography. Possible ways of integrating basic and additional education through the practice of local geography are indicated. Promising areas of activity are outlined as well as a plan for the implementation of specific actions for the development of local geography in education, including using modern digital tools and resources.
