The experience of the „translation of the culture“ was based with Rilke on the one hand on western book springs, on the other hand, on his short-term travelling to Russia. The sharp Rilkes translations from Russian is "Das Igorlied" and the writer preserved the structural elements from his poetic language. Rilkes „translation of the culture“ has promoted not only the horizon enlargement of the German-speaking audience, but also has enriched his poetic creating and his cultural experience.

The understanding of the Austrian modern age in Russia has changed during the last hundred years at least three times. Around the turn of the century of 19-20 centuries remained to the criticism of the modern age in Russia in frame the German education system and education system, which pursued the purpose, to fix national character in the literature. After him in 1917 the literature was valid as means for the ideological fight what has caused a negative appraisal of the Austrian modern age as "a bourgeoisie art". During the last 20 years the ideological function of the literature transformed in an intercultural function which opens the understanding of the own to itself from the perspective of the foreign culture.
The dream as a cultural figuration in Richard Beerhofmann „The death Georg“ permits us to open some row of constants of the modern age in Austria. These constants are Narzissismus, aesthetic perception of the world which stylises of all living to the art object, and disregarding of the social reality. At the example the dream in the work the artistic problems of the modern age are interpreted.
The article deals with the first English version of Derzhavin's ode «God», belonging to John Bowring. The comparative analysis of the original and translation using the close-reading technique helps to single out the transformations of Derzhavin's text. The author also makes an attempt to explain the character of each transformation and to show the mechanism of intercultural reception of works of art.

The understanding the Austrian literary canon in Russia differs substantially from the western understanding. This was caused by different cultural and scientific traditions. The choice criteria in the literature canon in Russia were formulated by the social-historical approach. Besides, a certain hierarchy of artistic systems played an essential role. At the head of this hierarchy there stood always realism. At the moment the canon of the Austrian modern age is in becoming and his creation depends on the choice criteria.
