Modern neuroaesthetics investigates the complex impact of art on all sensory modalities and the interactions between cortical and subcortical structures involved in its perception. The neurophysiological mechanisms underlying aesthetic evaluation apply to both classical and contemporary art, providing explanations for the regularities of perception and emotional response. Particular attention is devoted to unconscious emotional reactions, genre-specific differences, and the influence of cultural context. Contemporary neuroscience methods enable the real-time recording of physiological and neural responses, which is essential for personalized analysis of aesthetic experience and for predicting emotional responses to art and design.
